Attempting to make a cake and Uno bowling

As you know from the previous post, Amy's birthday was on Wednesday, February 25th. We like to make eachother fun and somewhat unique birthday cakes the last few years. I spent a LOT of time online before her bday picking out that "perfect" cake to assemble before her big day. After much debate, I decided that a crocodile cake was just the thing for a 24th birthday. It looked easy enough to make from the step-by-step instructions provided online, but was much MUCH tricker to execute. Note to all those attempting cute and difficult cakes: Freeze the cake if it is cut before attempting frosting it! Although the cake somewhat resembled a crocodile, there is alot of room for improvement for next year. I think that I'm up to the challenge. :)

When I got home after a little birthday party for her, the Salt Lake gang went UNO bowling for dollar Wednesdays. Now Uno bowling is bowling using Uno cards (hence the name!) and you are only supposed to knock down as many pins as is the number on the card. If it's a skip card, you obviously have to SKIP to bowl; Reversal cards require you to either bowl with your opposite hand or bowl backwards, and Wilds allow the person after you to decide how many pins to knock down and what funny way you have to bowl. Oh man was it a blast! We decided that we liked the funny cards better so we added mostly wilds and skips to the deck. We had people bowling anywhere from "chicken" style to piggyback to robot or doing 10 twirls before bowling. It was SO much fun and so funny. Thank you new guy at my work for the suggestion! (I should probably learn his name at some point because by "new" I actually mean that he's worked here for like 3 months! ooops). Unfortunately we don't have any pictures of the funny bowling other than these because our memory card was completely full.
Also, one last thing to mention...this is where I've been doing dishes lately because our stupid garbage disposal is out of commission. Luckily Brian, our manager, just fixed it so I can now use the sink like a NORMAL (loose term for me) person.
Before you judge me and think that the tub is dirty, I'll have you know that I cleaned it before and that it's just permanently stained like that.
Random pic of David showing proof that we found Hawaiian punch Slurpee (thanks Mo!) because no post would be complete without at least one picture of my handsome hubby

a VERY happy birthday to AMY!!

There's our cute little Birthday GIRL now! Not many people can shave while they are driving.
Sorry if this post STINKS (no pun intended!) Amy! I just love you.
This post is contributed to Amy, my best friend. Amy is one SPECIAL girl...and I mean SPECIAL! As you can tell from some of these pictures, she is one fun person to be friends with. I feel priviledged every day to even know her, let alone to be friends with her. Amy and I were freshmen year roommates and have been the best of friends ever since. She is the sweetest and kindest person I know, and so considerate of others. One of my favorite things about her though is how much fun she is to be around and how much fun we have together. We can sit and talk for hours and hours about absolutely nothing and still feel like we haven't spent enough time together. I could tell a million and one stories about our birthday girl, but I will share just one of my favorite stories about Amy.
When Amy went on a study abroad to London Winter 2006 both of us were super sad and lonely because it was the first time that we had spent like 5 seconds away from eachother. So we decided to write one another emails every day, send letters all the time, gchat, and send back and forth funny pictures of what we were up to. One day, I logged online to my gmail account and found this gem waiting in my inbox! Apparently Amy had wanted to have curly hair in London but this is what she woke up to. She begged me desperately not to share this photo with anyone but I DIED laughing. I ended up emailing the photo to everyone I knew! I really don't think I have ever laughed so much from one photo. So, sorry Amy, but I'm going to share this photo one more time for your birthday. You know I only do it because I love you!! Hope you can forgive me one day!

haha still gets me EVERY time! lol

Here are some other note-worthy pictures of Amy...
Peanut and Piggy enjoying a nice afternoon nap
Just "hanging" around
Backpacking in Australia

Oh, WOW! Halloween time when we decided to go 80's-style. Gag me with a spoon
No true Amy post would be complete without a picture of her with her brother, Daniel, whom she adores

Her looking cute in London

Her being jealous that it's MY BIRTHDAY next!

Amy this Christmas right before the birth of her daugher, Kate. Not many people can look cute being 9 months pregnant, but Amy definitely managed to pull it off.
Amy, I hope you have a great birthday. Sorry about the pictures. Can't wait to see you later today! LOVE YOU Peanutty Pie!

Happy Love day

Note: david is also wearing pink for pre-Vday

Happy Valentine's day everyone! Okay, so I know that it's not technically until TOMORROW but I tricked David and celebrated it today. We're still going to celebrate tomorrow too but I gave him my stuff this morning before work so he was actually surprised. He got to wake up to this, this morning. Too bad he's embarassed by me and took all the heart off before work. I still got a laugh out of him, so I win!
This is a horrible picture of me, but I'm wearing my pink Vday clothes!

He CAN cook...

I no longer believe that guys can't cook. What a crock! David was sweet and decided to make me Jambalaya a few weeks ago and it was the best meal of my life...No joke! I almost cried when the scrumptiousness was all gone and have been craving it ever since. Oh, and he makes a MEAN grilled cheese sandwhich. If you don't believe me, here is a little picture as proof that he was looking through the cookbooks for the "perfect recipe"
ha ha caught you in the act!

Weekend adventures

Since nothing ever exciting happens around here except for on the weekends, you will probably only hear about our weekend adventures on this blog. This weekend was awesome. David's coworker gave him tickets to a Jazz game on Friday night. I was so excited because we had been wanting to go to a Jazz game together since they started playing, but have been much too cheap to fork out the money for it. The game was fun and we creamed the other team. which is ALWAYS nice. Other highlights: we ate at Crown burger which was so good, but I ended up getting a stomach ate because we ate the whole meal in about 5 minutes flat since we were already late.
Enjoying a LITTLE icecream cone for two
Later we hung out with the gang at Jewel's place and played some fun games.
Here is Jewel busy texting everyone, while David makes creations out of dominoes. Who knew that dominioes is an actual game and not just pieces of plastic that you knock down? I def didn't!
